Beth Wozniak is the CEO of nVent, a $2.2 billion, high-performance electrical company with 10,000 employees worldwide. In 2018, nVent became an independent, publicly-traded company after separating from Pentair. Beth spoke about her company's transition to become independent, including rebranding, finding a new location, and developing a new employee culture.

Going Backward to go Forward
Research by Associate Professor William Hedgcock shows that approaching things in a way that seems to run counter to what most people habitually do creates better results. With tasks that require several steps, he says, it’s best to forge a plan that starts with the goal at the end and plan backward from there, not the other way around.

While corporate philanthropy and creating an image of social responsibility can help the firm that gives, does it actually benefit society? New research by three Carlson School of Management scholars shows that might not be the case and pinpoints one industry where corporate giving serves as cover for larger problems: the petroleum industry.
