Faculty Support
The caliber and reputation of our faculty remain key ingredients for the Carlson School. We aim to attract and retain the best faculty in the world—faculty who produce cutting-edge research and rigorous scholarship. Their influential ideas impact theory and practice globally, and enable our students to learn directly from the source.
Endowed faculty positions enable the Carlson School to attract, retain and recognize distinguished scholars who profoundly enrich the educational experience of students. Endowed chairs provide a margin of excellence above and beyond core salary and budget allocations to allow faculty to grow and develop their careers at the Carlson School through expanded teaching and research.
To be named to a chair is a prestigious honor reserved for Carlson’s most exceptional faculty. This honor greatly influences faculty decisions to stay or join the Carlson School in the face of competing offers from other top business schools.
Distinguished Professorship: Recognize faculty members that are among a handful of the most distinguished with nationally or globally recognized contributions to their field.
Endowed Chair: Helps Carlson recruit and retain exceptional faculty members of the highest potential.
Term Chair: Provides Carlson a means to attract outstanding junior faculty and assistant professors by offering them a named chair and research support for at least their first three years.
Visiting Professorship: Provides funding to bring prominent scholars or other leaders to campus on a short-term, temporary basis to teach or undertake research.

Many organizations sponsor scholarship awards that are paired with unique programming to help them fill their talent pipeline.
Scholarships and fellowships can be talent-based, need-based or reserved for specific majors or diversity initiatives—including awards for women or military veterans.
