Ranked 6th in the nation for faculty research productivity, the Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship equips students and managers with the skills, knowledge, and experience to create value in organizations.
We focus on the strategic and organizational leadership of firms, connecting the external forces of competition and collaboration with internal processes of knowledge creation and innovation. Our curriculum spans firm strategy and organization, ethics, entrepreneurship, and international business.
The department hosts the Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship, Carlson Venture Enterprises, and the Center for Integrative Leadership. Research interests cover areas such as competitive strategy, new business creation, location strategies, inter-firm networks and innovation, ethics and corporate social responsibility, group and team dynamics, time and timing, and international management.
