The Undergraduate Experience

Selected undergraduate students participate in the Consulting Enterprise for two semesters, typically spanning their junior and senior years. During this time, each participant completes two separate client engagements. Project teams typically4-5 students, comprised of MBA & UG students, who collaborate and function as peers.  While the undergraduate participants will have less work experience, they are expected to contribute a similar caliber of knowledge and work to their MBA counterparts, taking ownership for a key work stream and conducting client-facing work. Undergraduate students receive mentorship from the MBA students; one-on-one coaching and mentorship from Consulting Enterprise directors; and classroom training to develop skills in structured problem-solving, communications, and project management.

The Selection Process

Undergraduate participants are selected to participate in the Consulting Enterprise through a highly competitive process. Participation is open to students enrolled full time in the Carlson School Undergraduate Program. Students’ major areas of study vary, spanning all disciplines offered at the Carlson School (e.g., finance, marketing, accounting, MIS).  Preferred candidates have demonstrated a strong record of academic achievement, drive, and leadership, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

Interested students apply in the fall semester (typically of their junior year) for participation in the following two semesters. Every fall, the Consulting Enterprise hosts an information session and open house for interested students to provide further information and answer questions.
