Courses & Curriculum
A methodically crafted analytics curriculum places special emphasis on artificial intelligence and business applications
In the MSBA program, you'll take 14-16 credits of full-time coursework each of your 3 semesters for a total of 45 required credits. Most classes for the MSBA program meet during the day. The program’s cohort model means you’ll start at the same time as all other students and move through the required classes together.
Our high-quality curriculum establishes a robust and well-rounded foundation for data science professionals. You will first learn essential building blocks such as statistics, programming, SQL, data engineering, and applications in business. You will then go in-depth to solve business problems with diverse analytics tools such as exploratory analytics, predictive analytics, causal inference, big data, digital experimentation, time series forecasting, and natural language processing.
Central to our curriculum is a focus on artificial intelligence (AI). We integrate AI topics seamlessly into several existing courses, along with specialized courses that delve into various aspects of AI, ensuring you gain a nuanced and practical understanding of this transformative field.
If you want to dive deep into the field of AI, we offer an AI for Business track that helps you know which courses to take to become well versed in this field.
Our program places a premium on practical business applications with real clients. Each semester, you will apply your data skills to address business problems and communicate your findings to business stakeholders. Through live case competitions in the Carlson Analytics Lab—and with guidance from our esteemed faculty—you will quickly produce real results for clients while enhancing your problem solving and communication skills.

Application Deadlines
The following application rounds and deadlines are for applicants who wish to start the MSBA program in fall 2025.
Admitted students who enroll in the program are required to arrive on campus in time for the required MSBA Orientation in late August or early September. No exceptions are made to this requirement.
