Accounting

The Accounting department at the Carlson School approaches the field in relation to other disciplines such as economics, finance, psychology, and sociology.

Accounting students benefit from faculty who are respected scholars and researchers, with current projects spanning information economics, decision-making processes, market efficiency, and security valuation.

 

Academic Programs 

The Carlson School of Management offers undergraduate programs in Business with an Accounting major/minor. Additionally, we have specialized master's programs for taxation, accounting, and PhD in Business Administration with Accounting concentration.
Faculty 

Our department boasts of distinguished scholars and researchers in the field of accounting as faculty members. The current research by our faculty members encompasses a wide range of areas such as information economics, decision-making processes, market efficiency, and security valuation.
Events 

The Carlson School of Management's Accounting Department hosts conferences, including the Empirical Research Conference, Theory Conference, and a shared Midwest Research Conference with participation from faculty and doctoral students from various institutions.

David Horn
David Horn 

David Horn joined the Carlson School of Management in 2024 and currently serves as the Director of the MBT program.
John Heater
John C. Heater 

John C. Heater became a part of the Carlson School of Management in 2024, as an Assistant Professor. John achieved his PhD in Accounting from Yale in 2018, and joins us from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he was an Associate Professor. John studies how financial reporting affects managers' decision-making at corporations and financial intermediaries and how financial reporting conveys macroeconomic information. His research interests include disclosure, regulation, and the effects of the institutional investors on other stakeholders.
