WE* Mentorship FAQ

Basic Information

Our mission is to empower Female -Identifying University of Minnesota students interested in entrepreneurship by providing them with mentorship and guidance, enabling them to develop skills, confidence, and network necessary to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive community that celebrates diversity and promotes innovation.

Students

  • Women Identifying UMN Students (Undergrad, Graduate, MBA, etc.)
  • Related student groups: (WIB, Entre Club, Atland Ventures, etc.)
  • Undergrad Courses to Target: Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Carlson based

Mentors

  • Ideally younger/middle aged Founders in the Twin Cities, Entrepreneurs looking to form connections with undergraduate students

    • Pairings are announced! Reach out to your mentor and introduce yourself virtually!
  • May 1st | Program End
    • The program is officially over. We do encourage participants to continue to utilize this relationship further after this program

Session 1

  • This is your first one - on - one opportunity to get to know each other. Schedule a date that works for you.

Session 2

  • Utilize this meeting to start diving deeper and explore ways to expand your network. Schedule on a date that works for you.

Session 3

  • Wrap up the official mentorship. Talk to your mentor about sustaining a relationship! Schedule on a date that works for you.

FAQ

Any University of Minnesota students, including undergraduates, graduates, and MBA students. Priority focus on female- identifying undergraduates.

  • The program runs from March 1st to May 1st.
  • Mentors are expected to meet their mentees two times during this period, either virtually or in person.

Mentees are selected through a rigorous application process, and thy are paired with mentors based on their interests, goals, and background.

Mentors will provide guidance, support, and expertise to help mentees develop their entrepreneurial skills, clarify their goals, and build a roadmap for success.

Yes, the program includes at least two one - on - one sessions and two social/speaker events, providing valuable insights and networking opportunities.

Meetings can be either virtual or in person, depending on the preferences and convenience of the mentor - mentee pairs.

  • Mentor Applications Open: January 24th - February 26th

The program is free for participants. There are no fees associated with mentorship or participation in events.
