Program Details

    • CBS is one of the largest business schools in Europe with close to 20,000 students and offers world-class research based degree programs at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels. 
    • Located just minutes from Central Station and the Tivoli Gardens amusement park, Copenhagen Business School (CBS) provides you with excellent support and services as a Carlson School exchange student. CBS is the second largest business school in all of Europe and enjoys intimate ties with both the local and international business communities. As an internationally-focused university, CBS students gather from around the world to exchange ideas and impressions as they share success in putting their skills into practice.
    • CBS provides accommodations options for CBS Summer University participants.
    • Applications instructions, cost information, housing options and arrival information can be found on the CBS Summer University website.
    • The Carlson Global Institute strongly encourages students to live in the on-campus housing options as those are affiliated with and vetted by the partner institutions.
    • Each course is 4 UMN credits. Graduate students may enroll in either 
      • one 3-week course, or 
      • one or two 6-week courses. 
      • Students may not participate in the 2 week sessions offered by the CBS Summer University.
    • Students pick their courses from a list of over 50 offerings and can take classes in business or non-business courses.
    • Specific course information can be found on the CBS Summer University website.
    • The CBS Summer University program will transfer back as S/N grading
    • No host country language skills required
    • Currently enrolled in a Carlson School graduate program
    • In good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Additional criteria may apply

    • All Carlson students are responsible for obtaining a passport before they participate on a study abroad program
    • All students participating on a summer program will be responsible for obtaining a visa or residence permit if required by their host country.  The Carlson Global Institute does not process visa applications for students participating on exchange programs

    Students will be charged a $50 application fee. Applications will be reviewed and students will be informed of their application status within two weeks of submission. 

    Applications will only be reviewed when the following is complete: 

    1. ) Application essay addressing the following questions. The total essay cannot exceed 500 words:
      • Why is this particular summer program and host university a good fit for you? Please list 2 examples specific to your host institution. It can relate to your academics, personal goals, or professional goals. Additionally, how do you plan to engage in the communities in your host school?
      • Summer exchange programs require students to demonstrate a great deal of flexibility and adaptability. Many Carlson students find the adjustment to a new academic environment to be challenging. Please share a personal example of a time you demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a challenging academic situation when you did not agree with the outcome. What did you learn from this experience and how will it help you be successful on a semester exchange/summer program?
    2. ) Resume

    Most financial aid may be applied to study abroad. Carlson School graduate students are eligible for Education Abroad Fellowships. Please visit "Financial Aid" and "Fellowships" for more information.

These estimates will vary based on student preference and exchange rates, and all details are subject to change.  

Program administration and international medical, security, and evacuation insurance are included in the program fee.
