    The full-time MSBA curriculum balances a depth of analytical training with a breadth of business knowledge. Students learn data-driven problem solving techniques from faculty who lead the world in information systems research. Students also learn through experience, working with real companies to solve business problems using data.

    Experiential Learning Throughout

    Experiential learning is woven throughout the curriculum and includes multiple live case competitions with companies such as PwC. Full-time students also complete a semester-long experiential learning project with a partner company in the Carlson Analytics Lab. This hands on experience with real data prepares students to succeed in data analytics jobs following graduation.

Rigorous Analytics Courses for Today's Business World

The MSBA curriculum focuses on management fundamentals, technical capabilities, and multi-modal data analysis. The majority of courses are taught by faculty in the Information and Decision Sciences department, ranked #3 in the nation for information systems education by U.S. News and World Report (2015).

STEM Designated

The MS in Business Analytics program is recognized by the Department of Homeland Security as a STEM designated program. STEM programs allow greater flexibility for international students.


Dual Degree

Professionals with a combination of managerial expertise and analytics skills are in high demand from employers across industries. The Carlson School offers a dual MBA-MSBA degree program that can be completed in 2.5 years. Students who complete the program earn two graduate degrees.

New Scholarships Available for 2018

Qualifying students admitted to start the full-time MSBA program in June 2018 may earn a scholarship to help fund their graduate education. Twenty $20,000 merit-based scholarships will be awarded.

Eligibility Qualifications


Successful applicants demonstrate a capacity for intense academic study, a propensity for mathematics and programming, and a basic understanding of business fundamentals.
