Melissa Weisse

Melissa Weisse, ’12, graduated from the full-time MA-HRIR program and currently works as a senior HR manager at Legrand. Previously, Weisse worked at Eaton, Raytheon, and Oshkosh Corporation. She explains that she chose to attend the HRIR program at the Carlson School due to “the high placement of graduates into full time jobs within six months. I knew I wanted to go into HR so my main goal was to get a full time offer for after graduation,” she says. “The program gave me a great base level understanding of the HR field but the most valuable impact was in the critical thinking and problem solving skills.” Weisse wanted to join the Alumni Board “to get involved with the great events they put together to help ensure that the program stays strong and continues to develop the next generation of HR leaders.” She says she can’t wait to make a difference for the HRIR program. To current students, Weisse says, “build your network while you are in school because it is super helpful after you graduate. Also get as much experience as you can whether that is through internships, case competitions, volunteering, etc. It is great to reference those experiences as you move into the workforce.”

She was born and raised in Green Bay, WI and went to the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point for undergraduate. She graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and went straight into the master’s program at University of Minnesota and graduated in 2012. She has held several roles with a few companies since graduating. She is a mom of three little ones, Alexis (6), Levi (3), and Oliver (2 weeks). She is a huge Green Bay Packers fan!
