Lindsay Wenzel, ’16, graduated from the full-time MA-HRIR program and currently works in HR Strategy & Operations at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS.) She made her decision to attend at Carlson with ease. “Deciding on the HRIR program at the U of M was an easy decision for me when I saw the coursework, international opportunities, and strong network with other companies,” she says. “When I did a campus visit and met some of the faculty, the deal was sealed.” She explains that the program helped her achieve her current position. “I joined an HR leadership development program at BMS which had rotations as an HRBP, in total rewards, and abroad in the UK,” she says. “I'm grateful that the program helped me get connected with BMS where I can contribute in the healthcare field and develop my international lens.” She decided to join the Alumni Board because it was a way to engage with other alumni. “I've always felt a strong connection to the program and have thoroughly enjoyed the friendships and connections during and since,” she notes. “This is an opportunity to continue to stay connected as well as connect with other people who graduated at different times.” Her advice to current students is “ to slow down and reflect on what YOU want. It's easy to get wrapped up into companies coming in with a wonderful presentation about the neat things they're doing or to be influenced by what your peers are doing. However, I would strongly recommend slowing down and thinking about yourself.”
