HRIR faculty are widely published in the top academic journals and have expertise in a range of fields, including human resource management; staffing, training and development; employee compensation and benefits; organizational forms, evolution, and work processes; labor economics; and labor relations and collective bargaining.

Dr. Abdifatah A. Ali is an Assistant Professor of Work and Organizations in the Carlson School of Management at University of Minnesota. He earned his Ph.D.

Avner Ben-Ner
Professor

Avner Ben-Ner studies how organizations are designed and how they perform in relationship to ownership type, workforce composition, technology and other variables. He also investigates individual and group behavior relative to social preferences and cognition. His work spans theory and empirics, using a variety of methods and data sources.

John W. Budd is a Professor of Work and Organizations in the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where he holds the Industrial Relations Land Grant Chair. He is a graduate of Colgate University and earned a Ph.D. degree in economics from Princeton University.

Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) Campbell is an award-winning professor of management and leadership development. Her research examines team development and interpersonal interactions in teams.

Michelle Duffy
Professor, Vernon Heath Chair

Michelle K. Duffy is the Vernon Heath Chair, in the department of Work and Organizations in the Carlson School of Management. She has a PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Arkansas and a Master's in Psychology from Xavier University.

Colleen Flaherty Manchester
Associate Professor

Colleen Flaherty Manchester, PhD, is an associate professor in the Work and Organizations department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She completed her PhD in economics from Stanford University, with a specialization in labor economics and public finance. She also received her B.A. in both public policy and economics from Stanford University.

Professor, The Toro Company-David M. Lilly Chair in Organizational Behavior

Theresa M. Glomb is the Toro Company-David M. Lilly Chair in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She received her Ph.D. and A.M. in social, organizational, and individual differences psychology from the University of Illinois in 1998 and her B.A. in psychology from DePaul University in 1993.

John Kammeyer-Mueller
Professor, Curtis L. Carlson Professor of Industrial Relations

Dr. Kammeyer-Mueller's research examines how employees adjust to new jobs, the process of career development, and how attitudes and emotions shape behavior in organizations. He is particularly interested in learning how interpersonal relationships with co-workers and supervisors can affect how new hires see their work environments over time.

Connie Wanberg is a Professor and Industrial Relations Faculty Excellence Chair in the Work and Organizations Department at the Carlson School of Management. In her role as an educator, she teaches classes involving human resources management, leadership, industrial/organizational psychology, and organizational behavior.

Mary Zellmer-Bruhn

Dr. Zellmer-Bruhn is Professor of Organizational Behavior and Chair of the Work and Organizations Department of the Carlson School of Management.  She received a bachelor's degree in marketing, a master's degree in management, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior, all from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  She joined the Carlson School of Management in 1999.

Associate Professor

Le (Betty) Zhou is an associate professor in the Department of Work and Organizations and a Lawrence Fellow in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Betty received her Ph.D. in Management at the University of Florida in 2014. She has an M.S. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Psychology from Peking University (China).
