Liz Pagel, ’14, graduated from the full-time MA-HRIR program and currently works as the talent program manager at Land O’Lakes. Previously, she worked at EF, in Shanghai, China. Pagel explained she chose to attend the program “because I was looking to expand my HR skillset and transition to working in the United States. I was impressed with the companies that recruited at Carlson and felt the program would help me achieve my goal of finding a dream HR job at a Fortune 500 company,” she says. “The program provided broad exposure across HR disciplines including carefully designed projects and case competitions which allowed me to apply my learnings and problem-solving skills to real business challenges.” She says that she decided to join the Alumni Board to give back to the Carlson community, “one of the unexpected joys of the program was the engaged alumni and the fantastic connection they have back to Carlson and current students.” To current students, Pagel says “Don’t forget to take time to enjoy yourself! You made it into a top HR program that offers tremendous learning opportunities from networking with classmates, alumni, and mentors to participating in case competitions, volunteer opportunities and campus recruiting. It’s a whirlwind and it will be over before you know it, however, the experiences gained at Carlson will help shape you into the future business leader you’re on your way to becoming.”
