Joel Waldfogel, the Frederick R Kappel Chair in Applied Economics, will take over as associate dean of MBA and MS programs at the Carlson School on July 1, Dean Sri Zaheer announced Tuesday. Waldfogel replaces Stephen Parente, who has been nominated for a leadership position within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Waldfogel, who came to the Carlson School in 2010 after 13 years at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, is also an affiliated faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts' Department of Economics and the University of Minnesota Law School and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He was also previously an assistant and associate professor of economics at Yale.
"Through the addition of Joel to the Carlson School’s leadership team, I am once again reminded of the depth of our faculty and their extraordinary dedication to our school," Zaheer said.
"I am also grateful for Steve's service and dedication to the MBA and MS programs. Steve has served in his current role since 2014. He has worked to make our school the best it can be and his involvement will be missed on our leadership team."
