Two Business Leaders Join Carlson School Board of Advisors

An accomplished senior human resources leader at a local retail giant and the co-founder of a billion-dollar “unicorn” decision intelligence company have joined the Carlson School’s Board of Advisors.

Charles “Charlie” Montreuil, ‘06 MHRIR, senior vice president for Human Resources at Best Buy, and Michael Ramlet, ‘09 BSB, CEO of Morning Consult, officially joined earlier this month. The pair attended their first board meeting April 8. 

The Carlson School’s Board of Advisors includes more than 40 senior executives representing a variety of companies and organizations across the globe.

Together, they work closely with the Carlson School’s dean and leadership team to ensure a highly engaged relationship with local and national businesses while providing valued assistance in seeking both monetary and non-monetary support from individuals and the corporate community.

Charlie Montreuil

Charlie’s areas of responsibility include compensation, benefits, well-being, HR operations, HR technology, and employee relations. He has been with Best Buy for 14 years. Prior to coming to Best Buy, Charlie held a similar position at Carlson Companies where he also attended and received his Masters of Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management. Charlie is also a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law and practiced corporate law prior to joining the Carlson Companies. He has an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Studies from St. Cloud State University.

Charlie was chair of the Buyers Healthcare Action Group in Minnesota from 1998 to 2008. He is currently on the Board of Project Success; The Alina Philanthropic Committee and he is Treasurer of the Sauk River Chain of Lakes Association.
 

Michael Ramlet

Before co-founding Morning Consult, Michael was a principal at Purple Strategies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business strategy and public policy from the Carlson School, where he has also served as an adjunct lecturer.
 

About the Board of Advisors

The overarching purpose of the Board of Advisors is to advance the mission of the Carlson School of Management by: 1) advising the dean on strategic issues and operational matters, as appropriate; 2) providing input and support to the students and faculty as agreed with the dean; and 3) assisting in promoting the school to its numerous constituents. The Board does not have fiduciary responsibilities. Formerly known as the Board of Overseers, it was renamed effective December 9, 2020.
