Personifying the Honor Code

Respect, integrity, leadership, and individual responsibility are core tenets of the Carlson School Honor Code. To bring these values to life, the Undergraduate Program recently installed banners in the atrium of Hanson Hall that highlight students and faculty who are strong ambassadors of the code.
“We wanted to showcase Carlson School students who have a campus-wide impact, so Andre Hollins and Brandon Folkes immediately came to mind,” says Undergraduate Program Marketing and Recruitment Director Mindy Deardurff. Hollins is a sophomore guard on the Gophers men’s basketball team and senior Folkes is the drum major of the U’s marching band. “For their work on the basketball team and the marching band, Andre and Brandon need to be consummate leaders,” Deardurff says.
Others featured on the honor code banners include sophomore Chloe Edwards, a GopherBusiness alumnae and a previous Freshman of the Year award winner, and Associate Professor Mary Zellmer-Bruhn, a faculty leader in the Undergraduate Program, who also serves as the course coordinator for MGMT 1001.
“These are great representatives of the honor code,” says Undergraduate Program Assistant Dean Mary Maus Kosir. “And being displayed on these banners allows students to see them, and the values they represent every day.”
