Students who enroll in the Carlson School’s part-time Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) Program can complete the degree in two years, thanks to newly added course options in flexible formats. The program is ideal for working professionals who want to earn a master's degree in data analytics without putting their careers on hold.

Demand for professionals with skills in analytics remains strong across sectors as employers look to leverage the power of data to drive business decisions. Working professionals can augment their experience and increase their impact on business by enrolling in a top-tier program such as the Carlson School’s. Taking courses while continuing to work provides the opportunity to put classroom knowledge into business practice in real time.

“Motivated professionals can complete the part-time MSBA program in two years. Along the way, they can put what they learn to work for the benefit of their employers and their own careers,” says Zuzana Hlavacova Gurung, director of MS programs.

Applications are now being accepted for a fall 2017 start date.

The program’s rigorous curriculum teaches students how to extract insights with advanced data analysis and then apply the results in real business settings. To meet the needs of working professionals, courses are offered in the evening, online, and in condensed formats, depending on the topic.

“We are seeing a significant transformation happening in Twin Cities companies toward leveraging data and analytics for strategic advantage,” explains Ravi Bapna, academic director of MSBA programs and professor of information and decision sciences. “However, there is a need to rapidly retrain and reorient working professionals across a range of functions and industries in the language of machine learning and analytics, and that’s the intent of the new part-time MSBA curriculum.”
