This past spring, Carlson School MBA students participating in the Global Business Practicum course in Northern China partnered with students from the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in Beijing to work on a project for Thomson Reuters. The project centered on a new product launch in China.
The students from each school worked together virtually on the project for two months before the Carlson School students traveled abroad to meet their teammates in person, do field work on the project question and learn about doing business in China from Cheung Kong faculty members. In the end, the students presented their recommendations for the project to Thomson Reuters in Beijing and to its U.S. team, including COO of Technology Rick King, in Eagan, Minn.
The Global Business Practicum course is designed to increase students’ abilities to work in diverse teams and analyze problems from a global perspective.
