A Carlson School Full-Time MBA team took second place at the Net Impact Case Competition (NICC), which took place February 17 and 18 at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Team members include Thomas Cloyd, Elizabeth Emery, Mari Davis, and Jon Muncher.

NICC is the premier MBA case competition focused on solving real-world social and environmental business challenges. This year’s case challenged participants to find viable business solutions to the problem of mental illness and substance abuse in the workplace. Teams were tasked with proposing solutions to the case challenge, a plan to implement their proposed solution, and financial analysis to support their proposals.

The event featured 20 teams that advanced from a virtual round that took place back in December. The teams were divided into five groups of four teams. In order to advance to the championship round, a team had to beat the three teams within its original group of four. The five teams in the championship round presented to a set of judges comprised of top executives and experts on the challenge. The top three teams were awarded a cash prize. For taking second place, the Carlson School team went home with $7,500.
