At Minnesota Carlson, you can complement your education with a medical industry MBA specialization. Upon completion of this specialization, you'll automatically be enrolled as an MILI affiliate. MILI gives Part-Time and Full-Time students opportunities to prepare for leadership track careers in functional areas of the medical industry including finance, marketing, consulting, operations, and information technology.

Medical Industry Leadership Institute Courses

The requirements to complete a medical industry specialization are below. Please note, not all courses listed are offered every semester. Use the One Stop Class Schedule to verify each semester's course offerings and the assigned professor.

In addition to the Carlson requirements, students interested in earning a medical industry MBA specialization must complete:

  • MILI 6985: The Healthcare Marketplace
  • An experiential learning option with work in the medical industry (options that will fulfill this requirement are: MILI6995/6996/6997, IBUS 6997)
  • One additional MILI course or other medical industry related elective
  • MILI Specialization Application

Specific courses at Carlson draw on the faculty’s significant scientific, technical, policy, legal, and ethics expertise relevant to the medical industry. Choose from the following:

  • MILI 6421: Topics - Healthcare Law: Strategic and Business Implications 2 credits
  • MILI 6562: Information Technology in Healthcare 2 credits
  • MILI 6589: Medical Technology Evaluation and Market Research 2 credits
  • MILI 6726: Medical Device Industry: Business and Public Policy 2 credits
  • MILI 6963: Healthcare Market Analytics 2 credits
  • MILI 6985: The Healthcare Marketplace 2 credits
  • MILI 6991: Anatomy and Physiology for Managers 2 credits
  • MILI 6992: Healthcare Delivery Innovations: Optimizing Cost and Quality 2 credits
  • MILI 6995: Medical Industry Valuation Laboratory 2 credits
  • MILI 6997: Global Valuation Laboratory; IBUS 6997: International (CGI) Valuation Laboratory 4 credits
  • SCO 6096: Supply Chain Management in the Healthcare & Medical Devices Sector 2 credits
