Biography

Dr. Kalan Norris is an Assistant Professor of Work and Organizations at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He received his PhD in Organizational Behavior from the University at Buffalo School of Management.

His research examines how employees psychologically adapt to organizational environments, with particular attention to how leadership, interpersonal dynamics, and individual differences shape belonging, engagement, well-being, and performance at work. Using theory-driven and mixed-method approaches, his work seeks to better understand why employees experience organizations differently and how leaders can create environments where people thrive.

Dr. Norris’s research has appeared in outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. He teaches courses on leadership, organizational behavior, and power and influence.

He is a member of the Academy of Management, the Management Faculty of Color Association, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
