Your Story

I am a JD/MBA dual-degree candidate originally from Southern California, and completed my undergraduate education at UC Irvine. I moved to Minneapolis in 2014 to start at the law school, and have lived in the Twin Cities for two years now. I finished my first year of law school last spring and have enjoyed spending this year at Carlson learning about the fundamentals of business and finance. It is my hope upon completion of my education to work in the field of business law, preferably in-house with the general counsel of a mid-size corporation.

Why Carlson?

I chose to pursue my MBA at Carlson jointly with my law degree because I think it will provide me with a valuable perspective in my career. I believe it is important to understand the complex intersection of business operations and legal doctrine so that I can help position my clients for continued success. Specifically working as a general counsel inside a corporation, I feel that having a Carlson MBA will give me comfort in understanding the context of the firm, and what challenges and opportunities it faces.

Team Collaboration as a Carlson MBA Student

The collaborative atmosphere of the Carlson community has become one of my favorite aspects of being a student in the program. As a natural introvert, I was skeptical of the group dynamic at first. Working closely with a diverse group of people that I didn't know was an intimidating prospect for me. It quickly became apparent, though, how strong our team could be when we worked together -- our unique skills gave us the ability to collectively tackle many challenges that would have been impossible on our own.
