Attending Carlson is definitely one of the reasons I even got an opportunity to interview with Amazon. The strong career center prepared me, in great detail, for the interview. Also having a strong faculty of professors has opened my mind to a lot of information, and the experiential learning I got, not only from the enterprises but from other classes as well, has exposed me to real business problems.

My Story

I was born and raised in an all-boys family in Lagos, Nigeria. For my undergrad, I studied Microbiology because my dad wanted me to go to Med school. However, after graduation, I got a job in a commercial bank where my sojourn into the world of finance and accounting began. I worked in Finance and Risk Management for five years and within that time frame, I got my professional accounting and finance certifications and decided this was the career I wanted to pursue long term. I decided to get my MBA in a different country to gain international experience and learn different cultures, and it has been a great ride.

Why Carlson?

I considered four things when I started my MBA school research. First was the small class size. I wanted a school that appreciated a close-knit community where everyone knew each other and had a strong relationship. Secondly, I was intrigued by the experiential learning the enterprises provided. I made up my mind to join the Carlson Consulting Enterprise even before I got admitted. Also, I wanted a school that provided great opportunities post-MBA; Minneapolis is home to seventeen Fortune 500 companies and
there are great opportunities. Having a strong career center is also a huge plus. My final consideration was family, my brothers live in Minneapolis and wanted to live close to them. Carlson ticked these four boxes and coming here became an easy decision.

Next Steps

After graduating, I would be moving to Seattle to work at Amazon. I got an interesting role in their retail department and I am excited about what the future holds.
