Your Story
I have always been passionate about food, people, and health, and I was lucky enough to find the intersection of those things when I graduated college and moved to New York to farm at a non-profit food and agriculture center. After spending five seasons growing vegetables and educating consumers on the importance of sustainable agriculture, I knew I wanted to continue to be part of the food system, but in a different capacity. I decided to get my MBA to better understand the macroeconomic landscape of agriculture and find a way to plug into the food system on a larger scale. Getting an MBA would allow me to take a step back while gaining invaluable skills to succeed in the business world.
Why Carlson?
After spending five years in the Northeast, I was looking to move back to my beloved home state of Minnesota. Carlson had everything I was looking for - world class professors, small class sizes, close proximity to Fortune 500 companies- all located in the heart of a progressive city. But, after visiting, I knew Carlson had even more to offer. The community was like no other, and I truly felt I would be supported to succeed.
Living in the Twin Cities
Both my family and I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I love the Twin Cities! I went to college in San Diego and moved to New York after graduating so I have sampled life in some amazing metropolises, but Minneapolis-St.Paul has everything I want in a city. I love to run and bike around the lakes, and even frequently do so to school. The food scene continues to improve and one could argue that it is starting to give those coastal cities a run for their money. Our professional sports stadiums are right in the heart of the city and there are countless world-class theaters. My favorite thing to do is run around Lake of the Isles and then curl up with a book right on the water (and maybe take a nap!) I'm thrilled that Carlson has given me the opportunity to reconnect with my Minnesota roots and build toward my future in business at the same time.
