"I chose to attend business school because I wanted to pursue a career in business that would allow me to lead others and take responsibility for a portion of an organization - two of my favorite characteristics of my military service."
My Story
I grew up in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. I attended Marquette University, where I double majored in accounting and finance, and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. During my time at Marquette I interned in the assurance services practice of Ernst & Young and received a full-time offer. However, I ultimately declined the offer in order to serve in the military. I chose to serve in the military because I wanted to challenge myself mentally and physically, serve others, and be a part of something bigger than myself. I commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps and served for over seven years. During my military service, I led Marines during combat operations in Afghanistan, security operations and multi-nation military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region, and recruiting operations in the Pacific Northwest. I loved my time in the Marine Corps, but my wife and I grew tired of the long periods of separation and relocations. I chose to attend business school because I wanted to pursue a career in business that would allow me to lead others and take responsibility for a portion of an organization - two of my favorite characteristics of my military service.
Why Carlson?
I chose to attend Carlson for four primary reasons:
1) The students, alumni, professors, and staff that I spoke with were passionate about the program and about helping me succeed
2) The enterprise program would allow me to participate in three resume worthy consulting experiences over the course of the MBA program
3) The exceptionally high internship and job placement
4) The veteran's program which gave me immediate access to a network of highly successful alumni
