An A-MAZE-ing Outing With Carlson

Saturday, November 29, 2014

Minnesota boasts a wide selection of seasonal attractions. At the top of the list: apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and (drumroll)…corn mazes!

The Sever’s Corn Maze is one of the biggest in the area. Along with an intricately designed corn maze, there is an exotic petting zoo, pony and camel rides, pumpkin blaster, pig races, corn pits (where, actually, we spent the bulk of our time), magic and music shows, tire mountain, hay bale maze, and a long line of food vendors. Roasted corn: do it! Just get an over-priced but piping hot ear, dripping with butter and sprinkled with sea salt and tell me it isn’t worth it – I dare you!

On a cold and windy afternoon, I figured our two little ones would last maybe an hour. We stayed for three! There was so much to do, so many other little Carlson babies to play with, that we could not tear them away. Not that I minded. A Carlson-funded trip (from the Carlson Partners Club) that celebrates my number one all-time favorite season? Count me in!

The petting zoo is always the first stop for us. Riley and Joe have dreams of farm-living.

But the corn pit really took the cake. I like to eat corn, but these guys could roll in it all day.

The hay bale maze: for the more moderate maze-enthusiast.  Not sure which way to go next? No problem! Just hop on top of a bale and you’ll be out before you can say, “let’s go back to the petting zoo.”

On an autumn festivity scale of one to ten, this was a solid ten. Thank you, Carlson School, and Carlson Partners Club for organizing the event. We had a blast!
