Biz Pitch is your opportunity to win up to $2,600 to help develop your new venture!

On April 2nd, 2025, Biz Pitch finalists will make a 90-second pitch about their business idea to a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and investors at the Toaster Innovation Hub. Not only will they have the chance to win cash prizes, but they will also receive valuable feedback from those who have been in their shoes before. Previous participants have successfully raised capital and launched their business ideas through this event. 

This opportunity is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota.

 

APPLICATIONS DUE MARCH 19th

What is the process?

 

  1. Submit online application by March 19th (all applicants will receive feedback and advice on developing their idea)
  2. Finalists will be notified of advancement on March 24th (coaching and assistance available for finalists)
  3. Give your 90-second pitch live in front of a panel of judges in the TOASTER on April 2nd

Pitching Hints and Tips

What makes a good business pitch? Answer these questions succinctly:

  • What problem are you solving?
  • What is your product or service? Very simply describe what it is you sell/deliver. Be clear, but do not go into excruciating detail.
  • What is the value proposition? Explain what specific benefits you will deliver to your customer(s).
  • Who specifically is your customer? How will you reach them and create awareness?
  • What are the customer's current alternatives? Briefly discuss them and how you will be different/better.
  • What partners have you identified/secured?
  • How will you fund your venture and who will run the company? Tell them a little about you and your team's capabilities.
