Credit Waiver Pathways for Carlson Majors & Minors and Morris Students
The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program combines advanced accounting expertise with business foundations to prepare you for leadership roles in accounting, finance and auditing. If you have a business degree or minor from the University of Minnesota, you can accelerate your path through these pathways.
What are MAcc Pathways?
If you've completed an undergraduate degree in accounting or have a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, you may qualify to waive prerequisite or core credits in the Carlson Master of Accountancy program. You'll build on what you've already learned instead of repeating foundational coursework.
Qualifying students include:
- Any Accounting undergraduate majors, including Carlson BSB Accounting major students
- University of Minnesota Morris Business and Management degree holders with or without an Accounting minor
Benefits of pathways:
- Waive credits depending on your completed undergraduate courses:
- 10 credits for University of Minnesota Morris Business and Management graduates with an Accounting minor
- 3 credits for University of Minnesota Morris Business and Management graduates without an Accounting minor
- 14 credits for graduates with an Accounting major from any other institution
- Lower your total tuition costs
- Graduate in as few as 2 semesters depending on your academic coursework
- Apply as early as your junior year
- Lock in your admission and waive the application fee (Carlson BSB only)

How to Apply for MAcc Pathways
You will qualify for the prerequisite and/or credit waiver based on the courses you've completed with a B or better on your official transcript. You must start the Carlson program within 3 years of completing your undergraduate degree.
