Valuation for Strategic Decision-Making
Program Details
About the Program
Develop the judgment and skills to accurately value companies and make disciplined M&A decisions.
Senior leaders making capital allocation, acquisition, and investment decisions must be able to evaluate what a company is worth and why. This 1-day executive program provides a rigorous, practical framework for business valuation, equipping participants with the analytical fluency to assess investment opportunities, pressure-test deal pricing, and engage more effectively in M&A discussions.
Through expert instruction and a real-world acquisition case study, you'll work through the same methodologies used by investment bankers, private equity investors, and corporate development teams, moving from strategic rationale to financial modeling to deal outcomes. By the end of the program, you'll better understand how valuation informs strategic investment decisions, how buyers determine what a company is worth, and how disciplined valuation analysis can guide more effective capital allocation and M&A strategy.
Experience
Designed for leaders who need to evaluate and challenge valuation analyses, not build them from scratch, this program puts you directly inside the analytical process. You'll build models, interpret outputs, and stress-test assumptions against a real acquisition scenario. You'll return to work with sharper judgment on deal pricing, a clearer understanding of how buyers and sellers determine value, and the confidence to ask the right questions when it matters most.

Who Should Take This Course & Why
Schedule
Session Overview
- Discounted Cash Flow Valuation: Starting from a common foundation in financial statement fundamentals, you'll work through a full DCF analysis, examining how the methodology applies to both project investments and acquisition targets and where judgment has the greatest impact on value.
Session Overview
- “Multiples” Analysis & Final Modeling of Value: During the afternoon session, you’ll apply comparable company and precedent transaction analyses to the case target, then consolidate all three methodologies into a final valuation range. The day closes with a weighted average cost of capital (WACC) discussion and a debrief on actual deal outcomes, examining where models aligned with reality, and where they didn't.
