Fun Fact
I always thought I’d fail my negotiation class, but one of my friends reminded me of my college days in India when I used to haggle at markets like a pro. It turns out that those skills translate surprisingly well to professional settings.

Meet the Carlson School community and learn about the experiences and career connections we offer.

What was your initial reason or motivation for pursuing an Executive MBA?

My initial motivation for pursuing an Executive MBA was both personal and aspirational. I aimed to enhance my leadership and management skills to build high-performing teams, drive impactful strategies, and deliver meaningful outcomes within my organization. At the same time, this program fulfilled a long-held bucket list goal, serving as a personal milestone that reflects my commitment to growth, resilience, and aligning my professional ambitions with a broader purpose of empowering others. This journey is not just about achieving my goals; it’s about creating a lasting, positive impact both within my organization and beyond.

Why did you choose the Carlson School?

I chose the Carlson School because it stands out as one of the most prestigious business schools, known for its academic excellence, innovative approach to leadership development, and strong global reputation. Its emphasis on experiential learning, real-world problem-solving, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment perfectly aligns with my aspirations for both personal and professional growth. The opportunity to learn from world-class faculty, engage with a diverse and accomplished cohort, and access a vast network of successful alumni was incredibly compelling. Additionally, the school’s focus on preparing leaders to tackle complex challenges resonates deeply with my long-term goals of driving meaningful transformation and empowering others.

What has been or was your most valuable Carlson School experience?

It’s difficult to single out just one experience, faculty member, or course as the most valuable at the Carlson School. From the leadership of the directors to the expertise of the faculty and the incredible camaraderie among my cohort, every aspect of this program has been truly exceptional. The courses are thoughtfully designed, offering a perfect balance of academic rigor and practical application, which has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. The collaborative environment and diverse perspectives have enriched my learning experience beyond measure, making the entire journey feel nothing short of amazing.

My Carlson School experience has been about much more than academics—it has profoundly transformed my perspective on life. It has changed the way I view the world, approach challenges, and connect with others.

How has your Carlson School experience helped you change your career path and get to where you are?

My Carlson School experience has been about much more than academics—it has profoundly transformed my perspective on life. It has changed the way I view the world, approach challenges, and connect with others. The program has encouraged me to think critically, embrace diverse perspectives, and tackle problems with resilience and empathy. This journey has reshaped my personal outlook, helping me grow into a more confident, thoughtful, and well-rounded individual. The impact extends far beyond the classroom, fostering a deeper understanding of myself and my potential to make a meaningful difference.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Carlson’s Executive MBA program?

My advice to potential applicants is to fully immerse yourself in the program and enjoy every bit of the journey. Take the time to build meaningful connections with your cohort and network, and you’ll find that these relationships are one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience. While the journey might initially feel daunting, especially balancing work, life, and studies, trust the process. By the third semester, you’ll not only find your rhythm but also realize how integral the program, your classmates, and the midweek class meetings have become to your life. In fact, you might even start worrying about what life will feel like without this incredible experience and the people who have become like family
