Meet the Carlson School community and learn about the experiences and career connections we offer.
What was your initial reason or motivation for pursuing a Master of Accountancy?
My initial motivation for pursuing a Master of Accountancy came from my time working as an accounting intern and assistant at my parents’ schools. Being directly involved in the financial operations gave me a firsthand look at the challenges and opportunities within their accounting systems. This experience ignited a passion for gaining a deeper understanding of accounting principles and practices. I realized that with advanced knowledge, I could play a crucial role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our schools’ financial management, ultimately helping the business thrive. This personal connection and desire to make a meaningful impact inspired me to pursue further education in the field.
Why did you choose the Carlson School?
I chose the Carlson School because I was seeking an accounting program that offers strong foundational knowledge for someone without an extensive educational background in accounting. I was pleased to discover that the Carlson School provides a non-accounting undergraduate track specifically designed for individuals like me who did not major in accounting. This tailored approach reassured me that the Carlson School is committed to supporting students from diverse academic backgrounds, helping them build a solid foundation and succeed in the field of accounting.
What was your most valuable Carlson School experience?
One of my most valuable experiences at the Carlson School has been the tremendous support provided to students to ensure their success and enjoyment in academic study. For example, the Carlson Business Career Center (CBCC) offers invaluable resources that help us build our careers by connecting us with the professional world. The student engagement team organizes engaging events that foster networking and comradery. Additionally, I greatly appreciate the dedication of the instructors. They are always ready and happy to assist us in our learning journey, and their accessibility for questions and guidance has been incredibly beneficial.
