What was your initial reason or motivation for pursuing an MS in Supply Chain Management?

I have been fortunate to have held several positions within the supply chain in the medical device industry for over nine years. Along the way, supply chain management and healthcare have developed into more than a career; they are a passion of mine. As a proponent of lifelong learning, I believe that obtaining my master’s degree will provide me with new insights and skills to grow and provide a greater impact in these industries.

Why did you choose the Carlson School?

For as long as I can remember, I have been a supporter of the University of Minnesota. When researching Master’s of Supply Chain Management programs, the Carlson School was the first place I started. The Carlson School’s presence within the medical device and healthcare industries was a major reason I knew it was the right place for me. The faculty has in-depth experience working with leaders in these industries, and having the opportunity to learn from them is invaluable.

What has been your most valuable Carlson School experience or lesson so far?

The most valuable experience I have had so far during the program was the experiential learning project. Having the opportunity to work with an amazing nonprofit organization such as Second Harvest Heartland and being able to implement and execute the new skills you have learned throughout the program is a great learning experience.

What advice would you give to potential applicants to gain admission to the Carlson School’s MS in Supply Chain Management program?

I would recommend that potential applicants demonstrate their current supply chain experience and knowledge. Highlighting your background in the field and how these experiences align with the program will be beneficial during the application process. They should also emphasize their career vision and how this program will help them achieve their goals. Lastly, I would recommend showcasing your willingness to learn and continue to grow and develop.

The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program is intensive but also extremely rewarding if you go in with an open mind and a desire to make the most out of the journey.
