About

Dr. Birkland is a Senior Lecturer in the Work and Organizations Department of the Carlson School of Management. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology and a PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations, all from the University of Minnesota. Adib taught for ten years in New York City, at The City College of New York, and then at Parsons School of Design at The New School. He joined the faculty at the Carlson School of Management in 2018.

Birkland teaches courses at the Carlson School on human resources, organizational behavior, sustainability, and cross-cultural management. His research interests include misbehavior at the most senior organizational ranks, international culture, and personality, and his consulting experience spans organizations from the most humble grassroots initiatives to large international commercial and non-governmental entities around the world.
