Connecting Carlson Construction Begins
Thursday, December 19, 2024
After years of planning and preparation, construction is underway for the Connecting Carlson building project. Crews started removing tile in the atrium on Monday, marking the first phase of construction.
The Carlson community gave the atrium a final sendoff earlier this month. To mark the occasion, students signed a commemorative beam to symbolize the start of the construction. School leadership, faculty, staff, and honored guests also celebrated with a Winter Social event.
“Getting here is a path forged with the support of so many, which makes it extra gratifying,” Dean Jamie Prenkert reflected in his remarks at the event. “After the dust settles and we see the physical connection enhanced, the power will be in all the connections to come.”
After the first construction phase is completed over the winter break, there will be 10 remaining phases spread out over the next two years. All construction is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2026.
Connecting Carlson focuses on updating some of the school’s most prominent and frequently used spaces. This includes a transformation to the auditorium and atrium, select classroom and study spaces on the lower, first, and second floors, and a new Enterprise Lab suite and a larger Carlson Analytics Lab space on the first floor. The project intends to promote greater student collaboration, elevate experiential learning opportunities, strengthen a sense of belonging, and enhance connections with the greater business community.
