3 Thoughts from Dean Prenkert: Fall 2026

Curiosity

I’ve chosen Curiosity as our guiding theme this year, a value I see alive across our community every day. We passionately pursue knowledge and growth, fueling the innovative mindset that defines Carlson. Our faculty’s research embodies this spirit, pushing boundaries and tackling complex problems by seeking understanding before judging. I invite you to reconnect with your own curiosity: ask bold questions, explore new ideas and keep discovering every day.

Connection

We are launching a unified approach to external engagement, integrating our relationships across alumni, corporate partners, the business and nonprofit community, and the broader University into one coordinated network. What that means for you, our alumni and friends, is a single, responsive Carlson experience — one that knows your history with us, connects you directly to meaningful opportunities, and deepens your relationship over time. We are actively reaching out to build partnerships that create real value for our students, our partners and you.

Community

Last year, I joined the Board of Directors at Second Harvest Heartland, a leading hunger-relief organization based in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Contributing to their mission has been deeply rewarding, serving as a constant reminder that societal challenges like hunger can only be solved when we come together. As you reflect on your own engagement, what is a challenge in your community you feel called to work on?
