Frequently asked questions

As a University of Minnesota employee, you'll receive substantial tuition coverage through the program. While the benefit covers 75-100% of tuition, you're responsible for additional costs such as books, course materials, technology fees, and other program fees. 

If you're a faculty member, P&A staff member, civil service employee, or labor-represented employee working at least 75% time, you're eligible.

Graduate assistants, professionals-in-training, affiliate organization employees, and family members/dependents are not eligible.

The program covers credit-bearing courses that appear on a University transcript. While study abroad courses through the Learning Abroad Center aren't included, you'll have access to the full range of on-campus and online courses offered by the University.

The value of this benefit may be subject to taxation. Review the Appendix: Tax Implications of Regents Tuition Benefit Program, and consult with your tax advisor about your specific situation.

The process is straightforward for current employees:

  1. Apply for your program of choice. 
  2. One you're admitted, complete the Request for Regents Tuition Benefit Program form
  3. Get your department's signature
  4. Email your completed form to [email protected]

If you receive departmental authorization after registration, follow the same process.
