Welcome to the Carlson School of Management

Congratulations on your admission to the Carlson School of Management! We look forward to having you join our talented community of distinguished professionals from diverse backgrounds and industries. These checklists include early action steps to take as you look ahead to the start of your program.

Master's Programs

Prepare for the first day of your master’s program by completing the steps in our checklist.

Using your log-in information, visit your application portal. Click the ‘Respond to Your Admission Offer’ link under the Forms section to confirm your attendance.

When confirming admission, you will be prompted to pay a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit. Your $200 will be credited to your student accounts upon completion of any outstanding admission requirements, typically after the start of the semester.

You have not confirmed your attendance in your program until you have completed the ‘Respond to Your Admission Offer’ form and the $200 deposit has been applied to your account.

If your plans have changed and you are not joining the program, please enter your response in the 'Respond to Your Admission Offer' form. If you have questions about the process or need additional time to make your decision, please contact [email protected].

As a University of Minnesota Twin Cities student, you will use your Internet ID and password for secure logins, accessing University email, registering for classes, viewing financial information and billing, and more. We recommend setting up your account soon after confirming your place in the program.

To initiate your account, you will need your Social Security number, 7-digit Student ID number, Internet ID, and birth date. Your Student ID number and Internet ID may be included in your admissions letter. If you did not provide a Social Security number on your application or do not have one, leave this field blank when setting up your account. Initialize your University of Minnesota Internet ID.

After submitting the initialization form, a screen displays your Internet ID and password. Make note of your Internet ID and the password you created. You will be able to use this Internet ID and password to log into your University email. The expectation is that you will monitor this account starting now and throughout the duration of your program.

If you encounter any issues with initialization, please contact UMN Central IT.

The Academic Affairs & Student Engagement team has compiled a checklist for new students to complete before beginning their studies. We encourage you to complete all relevant steps per the dates outlined on the site.

If you plan to apply for federal financial assistance, you must first submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The University of Minnesota's financial aid counselors at One Stop Student Services will not be able to discuss your specific financial aid options until your FAFSA is received.

Detailed instructions on how to apply for financial aid may be found here. The UMN school code is 003969.

The My Finances tab in the MyU Portal provides personalized information on your financial aid progress. Contact One Stop Student Services for questions regarding financial aid, or visit the Finances & Tuition page

The goal of New Student Orientation is to prepare students for success in their program by covering information on academics, student engagement, and University resources. Orientation will include a self-paced online program available one month before the start of your courses and a virtual webinar focused on the start of your program experience. More information on these components will be emailed to confirmed students. Orientation is a requirement for all students beginning a Carlson School master’s or certificate program.

Graduate Certificate Programs

Take the first step in your certificate program by completing our checklist.

Using your log-in information, visit your application portal. Click the ‘Respond to Your Admission Offer’ link under the Forms section to confirm your attendance.

When confirming your admission, you will be prompted to pay a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit. Your $200 will be credited to your student accounts upon completion of any outstanding admission requirements, typically after the start of the semester.

If your plans have changed and you are not joining the program, please enter your response in the 'Respond to Your Admission Offer' form. If you have questions about the process or need additional time to make your decision, please contact [email protected]

If you are a currently enrolled University of Minnesota Graduate student pursuing the certificate while concurrently enrolled in another degree program, the $200 tuition deposit will be waived.

However, you still must accept your offer of admission by responding to the confirmation form by the deadline within your application portal.
