Biography

Junyi is a first-year Ph.D. student in Marketing at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned his Master’s degree in Managerial Economics from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from South China University of Technology in China.

After completing his master’s degree, he worked for two years as a full-time research assistant at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, working with Professor Leong Ching on projects in behavioral public policy. His past work examined how behavioral interventions (e.g., different types of nudges) can encourage more honest behavior in different groups of people (public sector works and general population) and how individuals make trade-offs when facing pro-social, self-interested, pro-environmental, and altruistic choices (e.g., whether people are willing to sacrifice personal interest to benefit the environment).

His current research interests lie in consumer behavior, including judgment and decision-making, consumer well-being, pro-social and pro-environmental behavior, consumer neuroscience and so on. Looking ahead, he hopes to learn and think more in the department, work with faculty members and focus on one or two specific areas.
