Biography
Dr. Jamshid Vayghan is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Information and Decision Sciences Department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, where he teaches courses with a focus on data analytics, machine learning, and their application to address business problems and opportunities.
Dr. Vayghan brings extensive global industry and academic experience spanning artificial intelligence, data and analytics, enterprise architecture, and technology-enabled digital business transformation. He has held senior technology and executive leadership roles at IBM and Kyndryl, including Vice President, Distinguished Engineer, and Global and Field CTO. Having lived and worked across four continents, he brings a global perspective shaped by working with organizations, leaders, and technology teams across diverse industries, cultures, and markets. He is co-founder of Digital Shift Advisory and currently advises organizations on enterprise Data & AI strategy, security, and governance, enterprise architecture, and AI-enabled digital business transformation.
He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, from the University of Minnesota, as well as a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. His academic experience includes teaching at the University of Minnesota and other universities in the U.S. and U.K. He is an inventor with multiple U.S. patents and has published on topics related to AI, data, information architecture, and enterprise transformation.
His professional and teaching interests center on connecting data, AI, technology, and architecture with business strategy, operation, and transformation to realize measurable business outcomes in a secure, safe, and responsible manner.
