Join the Fun & Join the Cause
The first-ever Analytics for Good Hackathon will bring the Carlson School analytics community together in a high-energy event to help a mission-driven community organization.
All Carlson students are welcome to join in the competition. Participating teams will have two days to crunch the data and devise a solution to our partner organization's business problem. This is an opportunity to apply your business-thinking and analytics skills to a real-life problem. It's experiential learning for students designed to help people and communities prosper.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of $1,000.

All Carlson School Students are welcome to participate. Teams should consist of 4-5 students. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged.

Volunteer as a Mentor or Judge
Analytics professionals and Carlson alumni can get involved too. Sign up to mentor students, or to serve as a judge.
Event Schedule

Introductions & Orientation
10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
After checking in for the event in the Carlson School atrium, participants will learn basic information about the event format, timing, and rules.
Kick-off with Partner Organization
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Teams meet representatives from the client partner organization (a non-profit, community group, foundation, or other mission-driven organization). Clients will provide some background on the organization and discuss project goals and challenges.
Lunch & Learn Session
11:30 a.m. onward
Industry and alumni mentors will offer some initial ideas on on the problem, where teams can start, what to try, etc.
Hack Begins!
12:00 p.m.
Teams begin working. We'll keep the coffee flowing!
End of Day 1 Meetup
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Meetup with project mentors to discuss progress and ask for advice.
Pizza Dinner
7:00 p.m.
Hack Continues
Hack continues overnight at home.
Breakfast Mixer
Grab and go.
Final 4 hours
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Teams complete and submit video presentations and other deliverables.
Hack closes at 12 Noon
Lunch & Learn
Time to discuss learnings and insights. Networking.
Presentations & Awards
3.30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hack ends with finalists presentations and awards.

Organizers of the 2022 hackathon include current analytics students, with the support of the Analytics for Good Institute.
