Chairman of Volvo Car Group China to Speak at October '1st Tuesday'
The Carlson School will welcome Chairman of Volvo Car Group China, Board Member, and VP of Geely Holding Group Freeman H. Shen at the next "1st Tuesday Speaker Series." Shen will share his expertise on cross cultural management, international operations, and business development on October 7, at 11:30 a.m. at McNamara Alumni Center. Tickets are available online for $32.
Shen has served as corporate vice president at Zhejiang Geely Holding Group since 2009, and has been head of China operations at Volvo Car Corp. since 2011. In 2009, he led the acquisition of Volvo, a move that positioned Zhejiang Geely Holding Group as a major player in the global automotive industry. Previously, he was the senior vice president of China operations at Volvo Car UK Limited, CEO of Fiat Powertrain Technologies China, VP of Fiat Group China, and president of automotive supplier Borgwarner China.
As an active and well-known member of the industry, Shen speaks often at conferences, forums, and schools. He has received an array of global honors, including the Zhejiang Province Camellia Award for contributions to social and economic development in Ningbo, China.
Shen holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanics from South China University of Technology, a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles, and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management.
