The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, as well as piles and piles of articles about the impact of unemployment and factors related to reemployment success for a review article I am writing.

I love Facebook.com as a way of keeping in touch with friends and family. In addition, I seem to visit the University of Minnesota Library website www.lib.umn.edu every day.

Your involvement in community engagement?

I work with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to study issues related to getting unemployed people back into work.

What are you reading?

I’m a really big fan of college basketball and have been intrigued by the life lessons and values of John Wooden, the great UCLA coach. I am currently reading Wooden—A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court.

Your favorite website?

Being a big sports fan, I visit ESPN.com at least twice a day to get the latest on college basketball, NFL, and MLB news.

Your involvement in community engagement?

I volunteer at various schools around the area, either through aiding a teacher during class or volunteering in after-school programs to try and have a positive impact on the students’ lives.

What are you reading?

I’ve become a big fan of Twin Cities-based author Vince Flynn and his political thriller novels such as Pursuit of Honor, which I finished reading over the holidays.

Your involvement in community engagement?

I really enjoy being involved in the community, and one highlight is the time I spend coaching a variety of youth sports teams. With four children actively involved in hockey, soccer, and baseball, there are opportunities for every season!
