Academic Advising

Undergraduate Advising

Academic advising is a critical part of your undergraduate experience at the Carlson School. You will be assigned to a professional academic advisor at orientation who will support you throughout your undergraduate experience until graduation.

Your advisor will help you set goals, guide you through the numerous opportunities available at the University, and make sure you stay on track for graduation.

For in-depth conversations and academic planning, students can schedule appointments with their assigned advisor. The Carlson School also offers convenient drop-in advising for students to get answers to quick questions along the way.

Students schedule appointments with their assigned advisor for the following:

  • Freshmen check-in appointments
  • Transfer student check-in appointments
  • Degree planning and course selection
  • Study abroad planning
  • Probation appointments
  • Current course questions
  • U of M and community resources and referrals

If a student is also a member of the University Honors program, they will be assigned an honors advisor who works closely with the Carlson School of Management advising team. Visit the honors website to learn more.

Drop-In Advising

The Carlson School’s drop-in hours are a unique and valuable resource for students to seek assistance in their educational experience.
