Biography

Kenneth J. Roering is a Professor-Emeritus in the Carlson School of Management of the University of Minnesota. He occupied the Pillsbury Company-Paul S. Gerot Chair in Marketing from 1982-2004.  He served as Chairman of the Marketing Department at the University of Minnesota. He has served as visiting professor or distinguished guest lecturer at a number of universities including Northwestern University, Harvard University, University of Michigan, University of Virginia, University of Illinois, University Jean Moulin (Lyon, France) and the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland). 

Ken obtained his doctorate from the University of Iowa and his bachelor’s degree from St John’s University.  He has published more than 70 articles in professional journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Behavioral Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, written two books and edited three collections of scholarly writings. He has served on numerous editorial review boards of scholarly journals including, the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Business Administration

Ken has been a consultant to numerous corporations including American Express, 3M, Cargill, Carlson Companies, Pillsbury, Medtronic, Target, TSI and US Bank. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of numerous private and public companies during the past 40 years and currently serves on the Board of M Health Fairview. He has directed and participated in numerous management development/educational programs in the United States, Europe, South America, and China.

Ken has received numerous awards and has been honored for his research, teaching and work as a corporate director, including Distinguished Doctoral Faculty, University of Minnesota Outstanding Teacher Award, Outstanding MBA Teacher Award, and Outstanding Executive Teacher Award.  He has been recognized as one of the Outstanding Corporate Directors in the State of Minnesota. He has served in a leadership position on the Boards of several non profit organizations including the Board of Trustees of St. John’s University and Board of Directors of the Children’s Theater.
