Driven Campaign Launch Event
On Saturday, October 28, the Carlson School officially launched its $150 million Driven campaign. The evening featured heartfelt remarks from campaign co-chairs Bob Kueppers, ’76 BSB, and Wendy Nelson, Dean Sri Zaheer, Provost Karen Hanson, and Carlson School senior Anne Schwappach. The event also featured an announcement of a new $6 million gift from Brian K. Gerhardson, ’86 BSB. To top off the evening, the Driven campaign film debuted and was followed by the singing of the rouser, led by Goldy Gopher.
Jen Houle’s 25th Birthday
On Friday, November 10, more than 250 friends and family members came together in honor of Jen Houle’s 25th birthday. Jen passed away during her senior year at the Carlson School in 2015. Event attendees celebrated Jen’s incredible life and gave support to Jen’s family. Her parents, John and Diane Houle, established the Jennifer Houle Memorial Scholarship in 2015.
LGBT+ Alumni Reunion
This fall, more than 100 students, alumni, and allies gathered for the first Carlson School LGBT+ reunion, hosted by the Compass student group. The evening featured remarks from Dean Sri Zaheer, a panel of LGBT+ alumni sharing their experiences, and the presentation of several awards. The “2017 Distinguished LGBT Alumnus” award went to Vanessa Tennyson, ’81 BA; Brian Gerhardson, ’86 BSB; and Patricia Columbus-Powers, ’17 MBA. The “Rainbow Mentorship” award went to Mark Hiemenz, ’90 BA, and Charlie Rounds, ’77 BA.
