Scholarships Power a Force for Good: Spring 2025

Friday, April 4, 2025

Scholarships help provide opportunities for students to attend a leading business school and gain skills, leadership experience, and connections to help them use business as a force for good. Philanthropy from alumni and friends of the Carlson School makes a positive impact, extending far beyond the campus.

I play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at a semi-professional level and compete on the University’s Gopher Esports team, which has found great success at the national level. Bonding with my teammates and representing the University has been a life-changing experience.

Additionally, I've enjoyed the strong sense of community, especially in my classes Leading Self and Teams, and Race, Power, and Justice in Business. I'll never forget that feeling of inclusion and support. I was raised by a single father who faced many hardships. His guidance has brought me to this point, and receiving a scholarship is a representation of everything he's worked to provide for me. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have at the Carlson School, and the support I am receiving to pursue them.

I’ve always been a little indecisive, but one thing I didn’t struggle with was choosing the Carlson School. I needed an institution that would give me the best opportunities to learn, make unique connections, and most importantly—discover myself. Carlson was just that. Coming here, I saw how much staff and faculty care about their students. I am already building friendships among clubs and in the classroom.

While here, I hope to start a program for underserved children and grow my involvement in my youth church. Having scholarship support is a blessing. It has allowed me to dedicate my time and energy to pursuing my goals and focusing on my education without the added financial stress. It has made such a positive impact on my life, and I’m so thankful for the opportunities at the Carlson School.
