The Carlson School will welcome Red Wing Shoe Company President and CEO Dave Murphy at the next "1st Tuesday Speaker Series." Murphy will present "Leadership Lessons I Learned from a Cow" on August 5, at 11:30 a.m. at McNamara Alumni Center.

Based in Red Wing, Minn., Red Wing Shoe Company, Inc. markets high-grade footwear that reflects a century of experience. The company is best known for its Red Wing, Vasque and Irish Setter brands, sold in the United States and internationally. Founded in 1905, the privately-held company also owns S.B. Foot Tanning Company and the St. James Hotel.

Prior to joining Red Wing Shoe in 2001, Murphy spent 23 years in increasingly challenging positions at General Mills where he served as senior vice president of international foods; president of General Mills Canada; president of Big "G" Cereals; and president of Betty Crocker products.

A native of Minneapolis, Murphy holds a bachelor's degree in economics with cum laude honors from Dartmouth College, and an MBA with emphasis in marketing from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
