Professor Shaker Zahra has been awarded an honorary doctorate in economics, management, and statistics from the University of Messina in Italy. This is his fourth honorary PhD: he was previous so honored by JIBS – Jonkoping University in Sweden, the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden, and Ghent University in Belgium.

Zahra is the Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship Department Chair, Robert E. Buuck Chair of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Strategy at the Carlson School, as well as the academic director of the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship.

In announcing his recent honorary doctorate, the University of Messina said, “The remarkable scientific work of Professor Shaker Zahra connects and intersects entrepreneurship, technology, strategy, and internationalization. In developing this research agenda over the years, he has emphasized the use of multiple methods, gathered data from multiple sources, from firms in the U.S. and 18 other countries. In carrying out this research program, Professor Shaker Zahra has developed a global network of co-authors who include former students, colleagues, and peers which contributed in achieving outstanding results. His work has been well appreciated, obtaining over 38,000 Google citations, the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research (2014), multiple honorary doctorates, and several best research paper awards.”
