Professor Shaker Zahra is among the most cited researchers in economic and business, according to Thomson Reuters’ Highly Cited Research 2014 list. Highly Cited Researchers rank among the top 1 percent most cited for their subject field and year of publication.
Zahra's research spans three main areas within management and strategy: corporate entrepreneurship, international entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship. His impact, however, extends beyond these research areas and even beyond the broader fields of management and strategy. His research has been recognized by and had an impact on a broad spectrum of scholars spanning a wide range of fields and disciplines throughout the social sciences and throughout the world.
Zahra, the Robert E. Buuck Chair of Entrepreneurship, has served on more than 25 journal editorial boards and has leading roles in many organizations devoted to entrepreneurial scholarship.
Earlier this year, he was presented with the 2014 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research by the Swedish Foundation for Small Business Research, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, and the Research Institute of Industrial Economics.
