Miller will assume the assistant dean for the MBA Programs and the Graduate Business Career Center (GBCC) position on July 1.

Phil Miller, the professional director of the Carlson Consulting Enterprise, has been named the assistant dean for the MBA Programs and the Graduate Business Career Center (GBCC) effective July 1.

Miller is replacing Kathryn Carlson, who will fully retire in June 2013. She will remain at the Carlson School as assistant dean of the Carlson Executive MBA Program from July 1 to her retirement.

"The position of assistant dean is especially significant at this time given our stated plans to increase the size of our Full-Time MBA Program," said Dean Sri Zaheer. "We conducted extensive interviews with a field of extraordinary candidates and, in the end, Phil's credentials and his knowledge of, and passion for, the Carlson School won the day."

Miller has been with the Consulting Enterprise for more than five years. As the new assistant dean, he will oversee admissions (recruiting, selection, and scholarships), student affairs (registration, advising, and student clubs), and the GBCC (career coaching, corporate relations, career education, and employment tracking).

Prior to joining the Carlson School, Miller worked at 3M where his responsibilities included managing a global business, leading an internal corporate venturing opportunity, and co-leading 3M's corporate Strategic Business Development group. He also worked for Ernst & Young's management consulting practice where his clients ranged from Fortune 10 global businesses to start-up companies across multiple industries. His experience included enterprise level strategy, process improvement, and technology issues.

A 1997 MBA graduate of the Carlson School with concentrations in strategy, marketing, and operations, Miller also holds an MA in history from the University of Oklahoma and a BA in history from Rice University.
